Tygh Valley, 1890
No one goes to the bottom of the valley…
...but there are some who venture deeper than most.
It’s a high time in the Central Oregon town of Tygh Valley. The community has been enriched by demand for it’s produce – chiefly timber and fur – both from the states being “reconstructed” in the southeast and from settlers moving into territory nearby.
But this is a legend haunted place. The natives of the area – the Akaitchi – tell of the ancient people of the valley, and how something…other in the deepest gorges and grottoes taught them strange, unspeakable songs.
